Alcoholics Anonymous First Edition First Printing from 1939 with Original Dust Jacket

This is a beautiful Alcoholics Anonymous First Edition First Printing from April 1939 with the original dust jacket.

Inside the book is an envelope with the handwriting: “Feb 8, 1940 Dinner 1939 Big Book Rockefeller Card”. A white card is inside the envelope with the text: “Compliments of John D. Rockefeller Jr. 26 Broadway New York”. This card and envelope are referring to the famous Rockefeller Dinner where Bill Wilson and AA were seeking fundraising and support from Rockefeller and his associates. The name “M.D. Vincent” is handwritten on the first page of the book. We have not been able to identify this person’s involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous or Rockefeller.

This book is in excellent condition. The binding is firm and fully intact. The red cloth cover shows very little wear. There is a small white mark on the front cover. The gilt lettering on the spine is slightly faded. The dust jacket is in excellent condition. The jacket has edge wear with a couple small tears at the top of the front cover. There are several strips of tape placed on the backside of the dust jacket to prevent any more tearing. This book comes with a red clamshell box that is labeled on the front cover and spine.
